Obedience Training
At Modular K9 Solutions, we emphasize Foundation Style Dog Training (FSDT) built on obedience, structure, and clear communication. Our experienced trainers use a structured command system that teaches dogs and puppies to:
- Associate their name with a cue
- Mark behaviors with a praise word
- Associate praise with a reward, delivered on a reinforcement schedule
Our training is based on a Phase 1–4 FSDT / Cynopraxic system, designed to guide dogs and owners through progressive stages of learning:
Phase 1:
Introduction to the mechanics of positive reinforcement, schedules of reinforcement, and achieving Premack’s Principle. This phase lays the groundwork for motivation and engagement.
Phase 2:
Humane introduction of punishment concepts, including:
- Escape conditioning
- Avoidance conditioning
- Conditioned punishers
This phase may include the use of corrective, leash-based training collars, but only if needed and always with careful application.
Phase 3:
Application of the concepts learned in Phase 2. This includes:
- Integration of E-collar training where appropriate
- Off-leash obedience work and reliability training
Phase 4:
Maintaining learned behaviors in new environments and real-world scenarios, ensuring the dog generalizes training across locations.
We adhere strictly to LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) guidelines, ensuring training is both humane and effective. Ethics and transparency are at the heart of everything we do.
Every session ends on a positive note, making training enjoyable and rewarding for both dog and handler.
