I am a Professional Dog Trainer and the founder of Modular K9 Solutions. I’m also a U.S. Army Veteran and Law Enforcement Officer whose deep respect for dogs was shaped through real‑world experience — both in service and through the profound bonds I shared with my German Shepherds, Axle and Katiana.
Losing Katiana unexpectedly, and later Axle, had a tremendous impact on me. Their behavioral challenges — Katiana’s dominance aggression and Axle’s territorial aggression — forced me to confront the reality that love alone isn’t enough. Those experiences shaped a personal commitment: no dog under my care would ever be out of control, misunderstood, or mistreated due to a lack of leadership, training, or education.
My journey into professional training began with studying under multiple trainers, but I quickly recognized a troubling pattern in the industry. Many programs prioritized quantity over quality, relied on outdated or heavy‑handed methods, or simply mimicked obedience without addressing the underlying behavioral issues. Training wasn’t enjoyable — not for me, and certainly not for the dogs. I watched clients being misled, money wasted, and dogs developing new problems from unfair or inconsistent handling.
Determined to raise the standard, I sought out true expertise and began training as a client under Josh Jacobson of Fearless K9. The results were immediate, and the types of dogs Josh successfully rehabilitated — dogs most would label “impossible” — showed me what real, structured, ethical training could accomplish. Josh introduced me to one of his mentors, renowned dog behaviorist Mike D’Abruzzo of K9‑1 Specialized Dog Training, whose program trains dog trainers at a professional level.
Mike’s Foundation Style Dog Training — rooted in Applied Behavioral Analysis, LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) principles, canine ethology, and the understanding that dogs are domesticated wolves — became the backbone of my approach. His comprehensive program covered behavior, obedience, aggression, husbandry, and protection training. It provided the formula and the ethical framework I had been searching for.
Fueled by purpose, I made a pivotal life decision. I stepped away from full‑time law enforcement and transitioned into a part‑time role so I could dedicate myself fully to my passion: helping dogs and their owners rebuild trust, communication, and harmony through ethical, science‑based training. From in‑home training to complex behavioral rehabilitation, I quickly became known for taking on — and succeeding with — the most aggressive and challenging cases. My approach is grounded in fairness, accountability, and respect for both dog and handler.
I live and work by the values that define me: integrity, honor, and respect. These principles guide my training, my business, and the expectations I set for myself and my clients. At Modular K9 Solutions, every dog is treated as an individual, every owner is supported, and every case is approached with the professionalism and compassion that dogs deserve.
